Investing Applications
Here are some of the investing apps I have personally tried over time and would recommend to you. Be sure to do your own research, read books, or even watch some videos on how to get started with each of them before investing.
You can easily open an account and start investing in the U.S. stock market with as little as $2o, they provide real-time stock prices so you can buy and sell stocks directly from your mobile devices. It really doesn’t get easier than that.
They also have commission-free trading and access to over 3,500 U.S. stocks and ETFs, which makes it easy for anyone to start investing and building their wealth.
Bamboo is currently available in Nigeria and Ghana. Coming soon to South Africa and Kenya.
You have probably been living under a rock if you don’t know what Piggyvest is. Well, not much of a shade, but I was once like that and the sad part was that I didn’t even trust it at first but it has proven to be tested and trusted by millions of Nigerians if I’m not exaggerating.
Piggyvest is a savings and investment platform that helps you save money and invest in profitable ventures and I absolutely love that it encourages a savings culture.
You can set savings targets and automate your savings to reach your financial goals. There are several savings options, including a flexible (flex naira and flex dollar), fixed, and target savings plan. You can also invest in different investment options, including agriculture, real estate, and transportation.
You typically earn up to 13% annual returns depending on the saving plan you opt for.
Squareroof is the first company I ever came across that is bridging the gap between the rich and poor when it comes to investing in the real estate market. They make it easy and affordable for you to own a share of professionally managed real estate properties from anywhere.
People like you and I can get access to credible and investable opportunities and can own as little as one square meter of a property which could either be in form of a land stock or a prop stock.
It gets interesting because we get to own any of these properties digitally and can earn money while at it. They also help in buying, renting, and selling landed properties.
Trove was the first investment platform I ever tried and I absolutely loved how easy it was. Over time, it has gone from being beginner-friendly to being a little more technical. Not something you can’t get a hold of tho and it is still one of the best you can get out there, and I would definitely recommend it.
You can easily open an account and start investing in Chinese and US stocks with as little as Nooo, they offer real-time market data which makes it easy for you to track your investments and make informed decisions.
In addition to stocks and bonds, Trove allows you to invest in cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum which you can also buy and sell directly from your account.
Currently available in 4o+ countries including most African countries.

$25 AirBnb Apartment in Cotonou
$25 AirBnb Apartment In Cotonou
- Adesholamie Spense
- January 8, 2022
I had previously booked a $25/night apartment via Airbnb for three nights so we could have a place to stay as soon as we arrive in Cotonou. It took almost an hour to arrive at Segbeya, where our apartment was located.Â
The Airbnb host, Haidi, told us to alight in front of a church where he came to pick us up with his bike alongside a friend. I rode with him, while Barakat rode with his friend. He was so nice and thankfully, he speaks and understands Yoruba fluently. He also speaks and understands French, but sadly we don’t.Â
We settled in and to be honest, the apartment wasn’t what I had expected, although it looked the same as the pictures posted online. I guess I just had a certain image of it in my head. The environment was basic and nothing serious was happening. It wasn’t completely bad, it just wasn’t giving the vibes it ought to give. We eventually canceled for the third night because we were more settled and could think of other places to stay.

One thing that completely took me off the grid was the fact that we had to pay for electricity during our stay. We paid 4,000 CFA / ₦4,000 / $8 for the two nights. In fact, we managed it. Dylane, the owner of the apartment said that’s how it’s been done because electricity is very expensive in Benin.
We were also able to use the wifi provided at the apartment since we couldn’t get a sim card on our way. The roaming charges were ridiculous. I had about 30GB of data on my mtn sim card before I got to Benin and it disappeared in less than an hour,
Overall, the environment was peaceful and we enjoyed our stay. $25 is pretty fair for the kind of services they provided.

BENIN REPUBLIC
Benin Republic
- Adesholamie Spense
- January 5, 2022

I recently took a trip to the Benin Republic by road and I’d say it ended in tears. Well, literally. I sure had a great time but it was just filled with so many unnecessary dramas I could have avoided.
Benin Republic, in my opinion, is not a bad country, and it definitely did worth the time I spent there. I traveled with my friend – Barakat – and we had such an amazing time.
The road trip lasted about six hours. The duration includes border control, and the time required to settle in our Airbnb apartment.
How to get to Benin Republic by road

From wherever you are, find your way to the Badagry roundabout, then take a bike or a cab to the Seme border.Â
Seme border is a settlement in Nigeria on the border with Benin Republic, about an hour drive from Badagry.
I would suggest you do bike because there are a lot of check points on the road which bikes could stylishly avoid, and the cab men would claim to carry you past the border – illegally of course.Â
When the bike trip ends, alight and stroll down to the Nigerian border for about three to five minutes. And that’s where your cross over to Benin Republic begins.Â
Note that if you want to go through the appropriate channel, make sure to cross the border yourself, on foot, to get your passport stamped.

Arriving in Cotonou, the first thing I noticed was the mode of transportation – even a blind man could tell. There were so many bike riders and they were well coordinated.
They wore yellow aprons which served as their uniforms as well as helmets. Most importantly, they were not honking unnecessarily. Could never be Lagos 😩.
I have more to tell you about my trip, please keep in touch and leave me a comment below.
